05 Slow close on windows

My 05, the windows all go down at about the same speed as any other car I've ever had, but they go up very, very slow. All the windows, same speed, whether one at a time or all at once, running or engine off. Usually about 9 to 10 seconds. It was below zero the past couple of days and that can seem like forever to close, didn't bother me in nice weather. I wondered if it was problematic for this year/model (especially since it is all the windows), or if there is some type of child safety setting that I could turn off that slows them down.

We can't be the only ones experiencing this problem. My 05 is doing the same thing. I'm thinking regulators since the motor still is working. Have you gone any farther on yours?

Try cleaning and using Rainx on both sides of windows, this might help reduce some resistance.

Rain-x is always on my windows. Clean means good visibility, good visibility means a safer drive. Rain-x means you can see the idiots without Rain-x coming at you. While checking on a lock problem, I even removed all the rubber seal that touches the glass just to see what would happen. It was still slow on close, but normal speed on open. I'm going to guess some engineer not knowing what they were doing or maybe parts supplier cutting corners on the motors if there isn't a user accessible setting for the speed.

It was the cables for the window regulator. If you google it you'll find tons of complaints and the fact that Ford dealers keep 5 on hand due to so many replacements. There are also many with instructions on how-to,

seemed to be good. I'm going with a different brand than the Motorcraft to see if it lasts longer.

you could lube your cables like how they do on old dirt bikes, small funnel, packaging tape or something like it, and alittle bit of light oil, you just find a small funnel that fits over end of cable, tape end up, then wire or hold funnel up with something and pour in a small amount of oil. give it 5-10 minutes to run down cable.

The cable had separated out (kind of unwraveled to be come larger in spots) and broke at one of those locations. I will make sure the new regulator's cables (got it yesterday) are well lubed before I install it.
