Thanks alot guys, im thinking the colour combo of TS-85 Bright Mica Red with either carbon or gun metal or semi gloss black for body. Wheels will be in matt black or smoke. since i dont have air brush, i think TS-85 is the nearest to Rosso Scuderia.

:iceslolan hi, heres a little update. finished off removed the lower left airvent...
moved forward to upper airvent... ive made a choice to replace with PE... is a big risk to me...

use d original plastic to mold the PE in shape... took me almost an hour to did that..

Removed the plastic solid vent... need to be fix due to over cut d plastic...

nice start !
where is your PE from ? personal cutting or is it a branded TK ?
I have the Revell 458 and this rounded angle PE part is a pain to form from a generic sheet... but seems that there still isn't any TK for Revell.

In his earlier post I think he mentioned the kit is from Fujimi and the PE kit is from Hobby Design (http://www.mediamixhobby.com.sg/shop/hd020130.html). The kit comes with the rear mesh areas but they do look like a complete pain.

I'm pretty sure Hobby Design will come out with a PE set for the Revell, though. The more likely question is when.

I can't find confirmation in his posts above but you're surely right it seems logical it's HD PE set as it's the only one available for the moment if I'm not wrong...

Nice work so far to correct and detail the kit...but I have to say, after building one of these myself and now having the Revell kit...

At least for anyone who has not purchased a 458 kit already...do not waste your time and money on the Fujimi kit! The Revell kit utterly destroys the Fujimi kit...in engine & chassis detail, especially interior detail. Not. Even. Close. All this work to correct the Fujimi kit is completely unnecessary with the Revell kit. The Revell kit even has a full, separate interior roof section...A pillar and headliner detail. Incredibly nice dash and door panel engraving. I'm sure Revell engineers laughed when they saw the sorry state of the Fujimi kit :uhoh:

Neither kit is perfect (Revell's tires are now rubber, but still too much sidewall...but Fujimi's 458 tires aren't good either), Revell's 458 looks by far their best Ferrari effort ever. Even body prep prior to painting is easier, the mold lines are fainter on the Revell kit (not to mention the molded mesh is deeper as well). Revell's glass installs like a real car from outside...Fujimi's glass is an old-fashioned glass tub that installs from inside.

Not to knock the effort of this particular build (because the Fujimi kit can look nice with the right effort), it's really a warning/suggestion to someone who has a choice of which kit to start with. I should have never wasted my money/time on the Fujimi...I paid the price because I had to have a model of the 458, and they really let me down with it because it is so inferior to their F430 and Scuderia kits, more in line with their half-hearted F355. Just sayin'...:uhoh:

That is one of the reason I haven't purchase the 458 italia kit, i still can't decide which to take, i know the fujimi 458 sucks, but it will still look great with effort, revell 458 will please me more but the wheel & brake had to be change, because i still don't like it :cwm27:

I just finished the Revell 458 review model...I'm even more impressed now. No longer is there any "bargain" excuses for a Revell Ferrari vs. the Japanese competition...it stands on its own, great quality and detail, excellent fit/assembly and appearance...it totally shames Fujimi's "effort". When available in US packaging, the Revell kit is essentially 2-3 times better than Fujimi's, at roughly 1/3 the price. I can only imagine the Fujimi kit being a better value in countries where Japanese kits are the standard and the Euro/US models suffer import taxes/duties that raise the price accordingly. And even then a true model enthusiast will want the Revell kit because of full/complete detail...many more parts than Fujimi, and yet more fun and fewer hassles to build (think "Tamiya 360 Modena" for comparison). My Fujimi kit looks good beside the Revell kit, but the satisfaction level of the Revell kit is vastly superior. I'll post photos after it is published, or you can dig through my album in my signature in a day or so to find photos.

I've just had a look at the photos on your site.

The Revell model looks good, but my only gripes are the sizes of the tyres, brake discs, size of the wing mirrors and maybe the tail pipes, but I know what you mean about the interiors. Revell's interior blows away the Fujimi one. Door cards are in a class of their own and the headlining and pillar detailing is excellent!

The mirrors seem too big and/or mishaped. Wheels/tires/brakes a problem too, but will be rectified when the aftermarket companies produce replacements.

Nice update. I literally ask this everytime I see someone do it but is there any particular technique you used to achieve the red lip of the rim? Did you just mask it off, spray it with primer and then the red paint? it looks good. I too dont understand all the wiring (its not like I work on them or have one in my garage) but it looks pretty good the way you have it. Keep it up!

Excellent progress, and very interesting solution for the wheels.

Are you planning to assemble the brakes like Fujimi suggests? Be warned that they messed up and the front calipers are at the back and vice versa.

Hi guys, thanks for the reply, for the wheels, i dechrome it, thanks spray the whole thing red, thn mask the lip and spray the whole thing black. Use black to cover the red is easier and mask lip is more easier n safer thn mask the star. As for the brakes, i will jz switch the caliper from back to front. The back portion of the caliper i will just let it be, not really obvious after testfit together with the wheels... Haha...

That will work perfectly. I can give you another heads up as well - you might want to study your reference photos carefully to determine which way the "Ferrari Brembo Carbon Ceramic" decals need to be applied. It depends on the side of the car.

It is amazing the difference it makes to do such simple modifications like you did to the seats. That is something I would have never thought to do. But since you can see the front of the seats in a built up Ferrari, it makes great sense to do this modification.

Great job!
Those HD nuts really enhance the final look of the wheels.
The modification to the seats is a very good idea

Looking forward to see more of this WIP

rotating thingy works for me.

very nice recording of what you're doing here.
one question, what did you do/use to scribe the circles for the base of for the rotating thingy?

hello, thanks for your comment, what i use to scribe the circle base for the rotating thingy is just a circle stencil ruler and a slighly dull needle attached to a pin vise. :p

according to refference that i had, the rotating thingy and the circle base are carbon fiber aswell... but i choose not to apply on it so that can notice the detail easily...

dry fit the rotating thingy... cant really see it clearly... i think i paint the thingy with gunmetal so that can be see clearly with black circle base... or should just leave it black?? what about you guys think??? which one is better? :p

I say just leave it black. The seat backs look great! Man those footwells are short. Fujimi really made some blunders with this kit.
