22R at Rétromobile-Paris 2011

The Retromobile website announced a Gulf cars display including a Mc Laren F1 GTR Longtail.

http://www.retromobile.fr/Evenements-sur-le-salon-de-la-voiture-ancienne/ROFGO-GULF-a-RETROMOBILE

Obviously, the race results are for 1997, not 1996 as written on the website. And the car is 22R.
Retromobile will be held in Paris (February 2-6). As usual, Retromobile appears very exciting with many rarely seen classic & race cars.

This is fantastic news.

Was wondering how long it'd be before #22R was displayed at a show or something. Here's hoping for plenty of photos.

Unless you saw it racing in the late 1990s then you have not seen this one before. It just finished a complete overhaul/restoration earlier this year after being stored for nearly a decade. Click through this link to the PistonHeads thread to see the latest pics.

If you're interested, we can travel together.
I wanna go, defininatly want to see 22R.
Not only because I do have an original headlight unit from this chasis, which was used in the FiaGt series and want to see the car (flat one, not the curved LM specs), but also the other cars and objects on display are interesting on a nice exhibition.

It looks absolutely stunning. Glad it's out and about as well, cars like this should never be hidden away as long as it has been.

Shame the Kremer(?) LMP at the front wasn't #02R in the same dark blue Gulf scheme, but that really is wishful thinking. Or even #15R seen as it's still in it's racing colours.

Dear all,

Is someone get pics of this 22R during qualifying session of Le Mans 1997?

I ask this cause i have a pic of the 3 Gulf Team Davidoff cars from Technical control of Le Mans 97, and the down part of the bonet (this part between the 2 radiator's big holes) is dark color.
But i have a personal pic of the front bonet (alone) where this part is Gulf Orange.

On this "re-made 2010 spray" we can see that it's Gulf orange.

So, is someone is able to confirm or to say, how the car was running before burning?

Also, we are not able to see what is writing between drivers name and window, but looks like was not like this in 1997.

bye

PS: will bring back other pics on wednesday eve.

arjan916 had this photo in the GTR livery thread some time ago:

Made some scans from pics I received the last weeks

http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/5202/40scan.th.jpg (http://img529.imageshack.us/my.php?image=40scan.jpg)

This pit lane photo also seems to show it in orange

http://thumbnails36.imagebam.com/11754/23e22d117532290.jpg (http://www.imagebam.com/image/23e22d117532290)

That part was dark during the LM'97 pre-qualifying but haven't seen a photo in which it wouldn't be the orange on the track during the race week(end).

This one maybe shows the driver names the best, so the respray has them in lower case, not in capital letters as the original had them.

http://thumbnails26.imagebam.com/11754/d6507e117532295.jpg (http://www.imagebam.com/image/d6507e117532295)

I'm not so sure when exactly these pictures are taken during the LM'97 week.

...but 25R doesn't currently wear the Gulf livery.

It doesn't mention it on the poster, but 28R was GTC's spare car and originally wore the Gulf livery. It is in Japan and was the Gulf GTR that was for sale at BingoSports for a couple of years.

Also looking forward to your pics Patrick. Glad you got to check another F1 off your list.
