I hope someone can help, I have a 91 park avenue ultra when i went to start it this morning it cranked over but wouldn't start. I had this problem last winter also when the temp is about 20 or above without a windchill it starts no problem

Are you pressing or pumping the gas peddle when your trying to start the car? Never touch the gas peddle when starting a fuel injection car cold or hot. Those PAUs are a nice ride.

Not touching the gas pedal only does this when it is very cold

You might want to try a bottle of drygas additive. Dry gas is an alcohol-based additive used in automobiles to prevent any water in the fuel from freezing, or to restore combustive power to gasoline spoiled by water. Also, you should always keep your gas tank full to prevent condensation. http://www.hectorshardware.biz/shop/product.asp?dept_id=19031201&sku=574686&; Hey, I'm no longer a Newbie, whoo whoooo, Marry Christmas.

Tank was full and drygas in any other ideas. It has spark and it is getting fuel.

How about some routine maintenance. If I was having your problem the first thing I would do is put in a new fuel filter, not a hard job and it probably needs changed anyway, and a new air filter too. I'd also be using 5W 30 engine oil in the winter months if I lived where you do.

None of this is working out, it ran the past couple of weeks only because we went out and started it every couple hours. It has to be something other than routine maintenance that was the first thing I thought of too.

You could have an inaccurate reading from the Engine Coolant Temp (ECT). The ECT acts similar to a choke used on old carb cars when cold. When the engine coolant is cold, the sensor will notify the PCM to richen the fuel delivery until the engine begins to warm up. If the ETC fails, this enrichment does not happen. The ECT sensor (2-wire) is located on the end of the lower intake manifold (drivers side) below the throttle body.

I was installing a new ect sensor when you posted it, now I'm having problems with the starter. Just one thing after another it seems

Yeah, 20-yr old cars can be expensive to maintain, but being proactive with maintenance will minimize expensive breakdowns & migraines. Good luck!

This is an old car, so when is the last time the wires & plugs were changed?

You could have a bad coil... The tach on these cars isn't really fast enough to see a single dead cylinder...

Does it feel like a continuous Misfire?

Doesnt really feel like a misfire at all. Just a really bad vibration down on power and the transmission seems to be winding out in gears longer than it should
