2001 Alero Radio stays on

Ok newest problem sometimes when car is turned off the radio stays on. It should shut off when door is open or after playing so many minutes, I think 10 minutes but I am not sure. Nothing else appears to be on. It dosen't happen everytime. Just started with this nasty cold weather. I don't know if there is some kind of relay that is triggered when the door is open. It will eventually turn off. I can shut off the radio with the switch but I still would like to find what causes this. :smokin:

I would check your door switches and make sure that opening a each door makes your dome light go on.

If they all work, I think the BCM is what controls the radio on circuit, but there may be a relay.

The dome light goes on and off with every door but the drivers, which seems to point to a switch for the drivers door. So I guess I need to find this switch and test it or change it out.

The relay is a Retained Accessory Power Relay (RAP) which works in conjunction with the BCM.

The door switch located in the door latch assembly is magnetic and same one controls the interior courtesy lighting.

. I am waiting to use a heated garage to get to the door switch. As far as I can tell I have to disassemble the door to get to this. I think I will just buy the switch replace it and go from there. I can't say enough how much I appreciate all the help I have received on this site. The issues I have had with this car have all been easy fixes thanks to everyone's advice. :rofl:
