Ok This comparison was not made yet. the cars are only 4 K apart which is a bit but don't make a big deal of it.

if you would have the money which one would you buy and why?

discuss all perfomances: track, drag and what posibilities of upgrades there are.

also don't say that i'm comparing aplles to oranges. Both cars are desined for the same market and for the same purpose.

i think the cobra is the better performer, not necessarily the better car if you will. and obviously the mustang, in general, has a pretty damn large aftermarket. i'm not the biggest fan of mustangs, but i think as a sports car, it outperforms the evo in a lot of ways. i would probably buy the evo though.

I say Evo, But thats simply because I drive an EVO..
They make a normal joe feel like a nascar driver, so The excitement of the Evo makes it my choice.. Never been in a cobra and wouldnt want to after my Evo.

Well if it's a JDM- then the Evo- they are awesome drag cars- with many Evo's pulling 9 second passes with rahter basic modifications- the handling- with the AYC diff is awesome- but I still would perfer it to be an Evo 6.

The Cobra is a good car- AWESOME V8- but not very well set up handling components unfortunately

on the 1/4 they really aren' tthat much different, event hough the evo is alittle bit slower. but, i would still say that the evo is a superior car, all you gotta do is hack the ecu and get rid of all that emissions crap and you will be makin just ask much power as a stock evo 7. then you'll be running faster then a evo becuase it weights less, which means sub 12.9 1/4 mile passes. plus its got the grip and rally inspired handling from years of development to boot. sure the cobra can finally handle beucase of its independant rear. but its more of a add on then a fully racing designed suspension set up like the one in a evo.

seeing as how he types perfect english, and talks about nascar, i am inferring i find it hard to believe that he lives in okinawa city and drives an evo IV . . . more like oklahoma city driving an f150

I may be a little biased, but I am into drag racing and in my opinion the Cobra has much more potential in that area. The '03 Cobra was conservativly tuned so that the Ford lawyers would let them out the door. The blower is only making 8 psi of boost stock. Where the EVO is making 19 psi. The Cobra can be made to run 475 rwhp with only about 300 bucks($75 for a blower pulley, roughly $200 for a chip). Don't get me wrong I like the EVO and respect it for what its for but it can't put up the same 1/4 mile numbers for the money. Nitrous Pete got his '03 Cobra running 8.67 @ 159mph in the 1/4. You can check it out on www.nitrous.com. I believe he got this time for little over $5000 above sticker price of the car brand new. Look at his specials to see the sheer potential of this car.

The Cobra has the edge in the 1/4 mile, but really it is going to come down to the driver in most cases. However; in every other department the Evo is the better car. The Mustang has always handled like a truck, it feels like driving a truck, and it almost weighs as much as a truck. The Evo has my vote hands down.

I'd pick the cobra. It looks better and and runs a faster quarter mile.

Evolution for me...Just because I like it better, everything about it reall. Except that the cost of modifying the Cobra to run faster is less. That's all the Cobra has going for it in my opinion.

i've seen both, and i really like the evo, but for the balls out driving i do, i'd take a cobra.

hell, kenne bell built one with 600hp, simply swapping the s/c and reprogramming the ecu (stock internals and exhaust)... not too shabby...

do that with an evo (600hp on stock internals and exh)

it's not hard to make the mustang handle either, as the chassis design is almost 20 years old, and everyone in the mustang aftermarket makes upgrades for it, ranging from street to all out racecar.

but the same goes for the evo, so it's pretty even.

if you left em stock, i'd take the evo, but if i could mod it, i'd go mustang, just to be different. and it WOULD eat any evo on a track (road or drag) after it was modded...

but by no means is the evo any less of a car, and it still is amazing to me.

Saying it's beat ANY Evo is pretty damn ignorant- just because you can get more power for cheaper with the Mustang- doesn't mean that the Evo's can't achieve just as much power- but cost slightly more. The Evo is a very tuneable car- the 4G63 after-market is endless- there are plenty of Evos running 9 second quarter miles without affecting the cars ability to turn a corner.
