Intake gasket fixed, but now the car

is overheating...I mean all the way to the warning buzzer/bell comes on. 2001 Malibu 6 cyl. Not getting any flow in the heater. I will take back to the shop Monday, but would like a good guess at what is wrong. They replaced the thermostat. Right after the fix the heater did work for a moment, but the temp indicator was very high at that time. Good shop that all ways makes things right.

Any ideas.

Air in the system is the usual issue.

Get the car to normal operateing Temp with high Heat, and force alittle water pressure through the coolant system with a garden hose.
At this time the thermostat is open, and the water pressure will workout the air pockets.
A Preston flush kit is probably the safest way todo this.

Caution - Very hot!

The system should be bled using the bleeder on the T'stat housing.

It's very wise of you to take it back to the shop.

Took it back to the shop and they had it fixed in a short period. Told them it needed to be burped.

i agree on burbing it to get air or air bubble out of it. so did they do this for you it yet?

The shop had it working that day. The next morning overheat and no heat in the car. Since the last post the water pump and later the thermostat has been replaced.

Every morning the car overheats. Turn the car off for a few minutes. The heat then comes on and it is good the rest of the day. The next morning the same problem.

Any ideas?

Taking it back to the shop and leaving it for a few days. I am sure they are at a loss as what the problem is at this point. Would appreciate any input.

Check coolant level when cold, it's still sounds like shorted coolant.

also checked shortly after it overheats. After it overheats it may require the addition of a small amount.

i'd take it back like i said and it screws up next day? so when this over heats are you going by guage or is it hot under hood where it's steaming or what? because i'm wandering if it's the guage and it wont be guage if it's getting hot under hood?

it is hot. I plan on taking it back Monday and let them have it for a few days to see if they can cure the problem and then test it the next day to make sure it works correctly.
