Whats a good launch RPM for my 91 Civic HB Si? I have 17" rims, so I was wondering what was a good launch RPM. I either spin too much or "hop"

put some steelies on when you race ... you are losing so much torque on those 17's its not even funny. I had my friends gsr 15's on my car and it was sluggish

yeh if u take it to the track then slam some steelies on the front. those 17's are also making your ratio's too low prob

you talking about dumping your clutch at what rpms is best? i wouldnt do that at all. i always slip the clutch from about 1300 up to 3000 then let it go and stomp on the gas. works pretty well for me

1,000rpm short of redline, dump it and feather the throttle to control wheel spin.
Trust me it works, its will destroy your driveline, and it takes a lot of practice to get the throttle control right, but its the only way to get a really good launch.

First, ditch the steamrollers....
Put some 14" steelies on and drop your tire pressure down to about 20psi. Even if you suck at "feathering", it will help your launch a little.
I did this the last time I raced and it made a huge difference in controlling wheel hop.
Of course if you cant "feather" the clutch like you're supposed to, I usually try to hold the revs at about 2800 on a launch. Of course, as I found out, launching creates havoc on driveline components.
I found out later that its not so much the launching, but the wheel hop created by launching. Thats why its a good idea to learn how to launch without "dumping" your clutch. Also, precise suspension tuning and good drivetrain components are key. Thats why Im so intent on intsalling a Phantom grip before I hit the track again. Not only does the lsd give you better traction, it cuts down on fwd wheel hop incredibly.
I will be getting my new trans probably monday, and will be taking the old one out sometime next week. Then, I will have many pictures for everyone. Then you can see exactly why wheel hop is so bad.
