Hey guys, I own a Mitsubishi, never worked on a Celica before at all, so I was hoping I could describe the symptoms and maybe someone could point me in the right direction. The car belongs to a good friend, and it would probably be best if I just show you the description she sent me. Thanks everyone!

its a toyota celica and i'm used to it being slow as molasses during the winter but lately its been taking forever to go into overdrive once i start it.
it will literally run at 3000 rpm when i'm only going 30 miles an hour. i mean i know it takes a min for a car to warm up and stuff but this kinda happens from the time i start my car in my driveway to till the time i get half way to crackerbarrel. which is about ten min away.
i'm thinkin its transmission?
and i the right side of my car makes a weird ticking nose whenever i drive and then stops when i stop. might be the wheels or something under the car.
its a 2001. i cant remember exactly but its got over at least 150,000 miles.

Those symptoms could be cause by a lot of things but here are a few possibilities to check out.

With over 150,000 miles I wonder when the last transmission service was performed? New fluids and filter could solve her problem shifting. That could also be caused by a vacuum leak.

Also, with those miles she might be hearing a clicking, not ticking, sound when driving that's caused by a bad CV joint (front wheel drive axle).
