Spanked a GT

I was coming home from my gf's house and I pulled up to this Mustang GT at a redlight. I was beatin of course. (I have two auidobahn 12's) So were sitting there and I see him glance over at me and look at the girl with him and kinda snicker. So the light turns green and we both take off. He started to pull on me in first, but I hit second and smoked em :eek: <----Bet thats what he looked like when he realized "Hey, I just got wooped by a Civic." LOL..sorry, just like sharing my stories. By they way, I hate Mustangs.

I'm pretty sure it was the 95-99 model. I have intake, exahaust, gutted cat, Mugen chip, and thats it as far as engine. The only reason he jumped me on take off is because I have 17" rims.

Just wait till the turbo goes on...I'm goin stang huntin :D

A GT should be able to beat a 4th gen Si with basically nothing done to it..

He must suck at driving then.

or he wasnt trying, a gt would have a hard time losing to a 4th gen imo...but who knows:confused:

i dunno ive beat quite a few of those newer gt's in my completely stock si, so either
a) either they all sucked
b) im really awesome
c) mustangs suck hard core
d)all of the above

He was deffinetly trying, he's the one that jumped first. And I could hear his engine reving like super freaking high. And it was def a GT. I can tell the diff. in sound. I don't know thugh. GT's only have like 170 whp, and they are heavy. So if they half way suck at driving it's very possible. Plus we raced like a less than 1/8 mile. So...he would have probably got me if we were going further. Don't pop my bubble though!:bloated:

GTs give my car a good run with a B16.. I've never seen one run as slow as a basically stock 4th gen Si.

Hate to tell you this, but there is no way your car will outrun a GT. Also a 99 up GT (the angular body style) is rated at 260 bhp. Even with a 15% loss through the drivetrain that 221 Rear Wheel Hp.

Your numbers are way off. If it were a GT, AND he was really running you he'd have left you going 20 by the time he was doing 50. I traded my 2001 GT for my 2003 Cobra.

If you really beat him here's what happened:

1. He was laughing too hard to press the gas pedal
2. It was a V6 and he was still laughing to hard to press the gas pedal
3. He just hit it for a second to see if you'd actually try to run him

No offense, but there is no way.

Dude I saw a GT stock dyno at 170 whp I think I would know. And a V6 has no chance. I have raced so many V6 Mutangs ist's not even funny. The road in front of us kinda winds ~ so I'm thinking he sucked at driving and stangs don't handle as well as civics. I drove my friends and it sucked.

not dissing on our civics or anything but i think mustangs have a much better setup handling wise. i have a 89 gt with cai, exhaust, gears short shifter, blah blah blah. when i let my dad drive the mustang he always beats me by a car length. i have a b16 in my car so there is no way you could even come close to beating him. and i have raced 95 gt's before with my old si motor and they always beat me. sorry but there was no way this guy was racing you. he was prob fu*king with you.

My DX Hatch is a fun little project car, but it won't be "smoking" any GTs anytime soon. Even with a motor swap I don't see it happening.

Got news for ya budy, I got three people that saw me beat him. I just said I beat him also. I never said I over powered him. I also said my guess was he sucked at driving it. I know a GT would beat a Civic Si with barely anything done to it. The point was I beat it. It doesn't matter how I did it or why but I did. If he sucks that bad he doesn't need a muscle car. And no I'm not up to date on my Fords cause personally I think Fords aren't worth crap. If you want a real muscle car go for a Chevy.

Please tell me you're kidding??? I dunno on what planet this is true.

There are few things Mustangs are good at...1) Very shitty fuel economy and 2) Going fast in a straight line.

Turning is definitely not a Mustang strong point, hence the shitty suspension design, and way too heavy.

Argue all you want, but how many of you have seen Mustang on a AutoX course?

Thats another reason I think I beat him, the road was curvy and I think he sucked at driving, plu sit was even heaver due to the hydralic lift for the conv. top.

I've beaten many cars I shouldnt have, Mustangs included. That doesnt mean it didnt happen. I think the driver makes all the difference in the world. A win is a win, doesnt matter if its against a shithead, or pro racer.

Also, wouldnt it make a difference if the Stang was Auto? Just asking...

And I have raced many many v6's.....They're slow as dogshit. I wouldnt doubt a mildly modded Si could take one out. I used to love racing the v-6 mustangs, because I'd walk on them all day with the Zc. Top end too...Kinda funny leaving a Mustang at 135mph.

Word to the wise, keep your Kill stories to yourself. How would you ever hope to prove something of this nature? That is of course, unless you have video.:D

just my 2 cents, curvy roads and speed will leave a stang wrapped around something unless the driver can drift like a pro. a civic speed and handling go hand and hand. but as far as str-8 strip thats where the stang need to be.

Sorry if everyone thought I was being cocky. We just have a Mustang problem here and its amazing to me that I beat him. There were other people who saw it and they were suprized to. It may have been luck, he may have sucked, or maybe the engine was a piece. All I know is he was racing, and I won. Straight road, I know he would have killed me it has happened before. Sorry if you guys thought I was trying to act all bad.

The Cobra is limited to 155 with the factory setting in the ECU.

I have had mine to about 145. It will do the MPH limit in 5th gear, and there are six gears in the car. :)

It felt much more stable than my GT did at 140, but as all Mustangs it's said to get light at about 160+

It's quite a bit lower than a stock GT so that helps keep too much air from getting under it. However without a Cobra R wing and a front air splitter I wouldn't be too keen on going over 150 from what other owners have told me.

Doug, your last post sounds much more reasonable than your first. The thread is titled I "spanked" a GT. That's why I couldn't just let this one lie. Congrats on the win.

well the GTs aren't exactly stellar performers. I believe they have a 4.6L V8, but it only generates 177 horse. That's pathetic. On one of those mechanic's shows on TNN one time they dropped 3000 into performance shit on a 96 mustang GT and only got it up to 220 horse. Hell the exhaust alone was like 1300 without install. the only thing they have going for them is displacement, and they dont' even take advantage of that.

B16 = 100hp per liter at the crank (first mass production motor to do this i believe)

GT = 38hp per liter at the wheels.... c'mon... SO much displacement with SO much capacity for horsepower.

Well i dont hate them. I jsut hate some of the owners.

the ones i beat are retards cuz all they did was burn out and i was gone they couldnt catch up by the time i was doing 90 so i just stopped cuz i dont like going any faster than that on the streets

and as far as handling, its using 1970s technology there. and some people might think "if it aint broke, dont fix it" but in this case i disagree. with all the advancements in independant suspensions and wishbones and whatnot, why does Ford still use the same platform for so long? i think its crap

don't they have a governer that cuts them off at like 110? and i don't think i've seen many v-6's with the governer takin off. do you know the stang you raced at this speed.



p.s. no beef here just wanted to know a lil bit about it because my zc can never seem to get past 130-135??

I have no idea what they were, but they would usually give up at about that point. Obviously, Im not going to walk a cobra or something of that nature :rolleyes:

The zc Pm7 has a limiter of 115mph on it, which is what I have now. But In my first Si, I had the 88-89 Integra pg7, with no limiter.

I have to estimate, understand because all civic speedos stop at 130. All I know is that one day I wanted to see just how fast I could get it to. I ended up pinning the needle at about 6 grand in 3rd gear. I let off in 5th at about 5grand, because the car had bad struts and was starting to get a little light if you know what i mean. :eek:

I dont know what your experience has been, but my zc had very strong top end. I'd say the best "kill" would have to be this older Mercedes CLK (probably like 94) on the turnpike. He was pissed, because I let him stay with me, then I would just take off and leave him. hahahaha...

e)mustang's dont need to be considered trying to race or at Wide Open Throttle just because accelerating like your car would be at W.O.T. (like some cars that need to be W.O.T. to accelerate decent) and he wasn't trying, because he thought you were cute and silly for trying
