'95 Park Avenue: ABS works, but TC does not. After turning the car on, the TC light is off. But after I drive maybe 40 yards, it comes on ("Traction off" light) and stays on until the computer is restarted. The TC does not work in those first 40 yards of driving. Like I said, the ABS works, so I know the problem is not wheel sensors or any components of the ABS system.
Any ideas? Any cheap ways to test?

Actually the ABS and TC are one in the same... You have an EBTCM( Electronic Brake Traction Control Module ) That controls the ABS/TC Pump... There may be an inlet valve or outlet valve pressure sensor that could be having issues... You will need to have the Brake system scanned if you ever want to fix it..

Thanks. My situation is kind of strange though because the ABS does work and the TC doesn't, and after driving a little ways it throws only the TC light.

Same process for diagnostics, an abs function scanner must be used.

Last time I had my ABS system scanned we used a Snap on, told me exactly what the issue was and where... Made it easy to fix the system..
If the ABS still works you can live without the Traction Control, but it is nice to have...

Was the SnapOn tool expensive? Does it work for a '95?

The snapon is the type of tool that would be in a shop and run in the $3000 area... Either that or a Tech 2, and that as well is expensive....
