2002 ranger transmission

I have a 3.0 litre with a 4 speed automatic trans.
I have noticed that it shifts into 4th gear at about 50-55 mph. Is this normal, it seems high. My chevs shift into high gear between 35-40 mph.

Also can I put a 5 speed automatic in this truck.
