'96 4runner will not start

I have 1996 toyota 4runner 2wd. About a 1 1/2 years ago I rebuilt the engine due to a blown head. Everything is new from the piston rods up. Also new raditor, starter, fuel pump, timing chain, and alternator.
The issue is I started the car (http://4runnerforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3137#) and it started shaking a lot so I cut it off. I restarted and everything was fine. Drove it home and when pulling in the driveway it started shaking again. I cut it off and I could smell gas. I let it sit over night and the next day it would not start. I replaced the ignition coil just in case. When I did this, it tried to crank but a bunch of white smoke came out of the exhaust. It is getting spark, compression in each cylinder is good, the oil looks good and the radito fluid looks good. Each spark plug looks and smells like it has gas on them. I just sounds like it is getting too much fuel. Any help will do.

Are you sure each cylinder has spark?
Does it run at all?
Have you tried to pull error codes from the ECM?

I pulled each spark plug out and put it next to metal and all 4 had a good spark.

It acts like it wants to when you turn the key. It takes a little bit but when it turns over and you let go of the key, it dies. White smoke still comes from the exhast. I did notice that when I did a compression check of each cylinder, when I pulled the compression gauge off of cylinder 3 and 4, a little smoke came out. Didn't know if this meant anything or not.

How do you pull the error codes from the ECM?
I have a OBII meter but it will not read since the engine will not start.

Thanks for you help.

You don't need to start the engine to use the OBDII meter. Just hook it up, turn the key on and tell it to read codes.

Thanks, I did not realize that. I am out of town right now. I will try this when I get back home and repost the results.
