I recently started having a problem with my jimmy dying randomly. I initially thought it was the cat that was clogged so I bought a new one. We cut the old one off and it was hollowed out, so we put the new one on. It's still dying. I will be driving and it will start cutting out and then all of aq sudden it dies then, I have to wait 2-30 mins for it to start again. We took it to autozone had them read the codes it threw 6 codes that werent for the vehicle. So, they reset the computer it threw so many codes the reader ran out of memory... Is my truck really that messed up or is it the ECM?

what codes are being thrown?

a bad ignition control module can make the car die. once it cools off it will restart. most parts store can test the module, but it needs to be warm when testing.

See, that's the thing there were so many codes the reader couldn't save them, so I couldn't get a printout.

1995 was a "change-over" year for S & T series GM vehicles. Early models used OBD1 and later ones used OBD1.5 The cheapie $300 or $400 code readers that the auto parts stores use, sometimes will not acurately retrieve DTC's on the OBD1.5 systems. Best to have a qualified tech retrieve the DTC's for you, then post them here, in the exact order they were retrieved. Which connector is under the dash?
