1995 Lumina 3.1. 130K miles. Rarely used. Leaking ( or should I say gushing ) what looks like rusty looking fluid. It is coming from very near the front of the car. The brakes do not work. Pedal goes to the floor. Checked the fluid level. It was Ok. Thought at 1st it was coolant but the coolant level looks OK. I checked the trans level and it was only at the " add 1 pint". This after losing ALOT of liquid. Looks to me like it was a trans line that has rusted. Does the trans fluid get to look like this?

Could, clean up the area, have someone start the car, pump the brakes and see what is what, no other way. I would think the brakes would be an issue with a broken line, no?

When you think about how much brake fluid is in the system you would be talking about gallon(s). Nor would it be GUSHING out unless under pressure. From what I could tell it was coming from under the the radiator, from small tubes that looked like it went to the transmission.

Those are the trans cooler lines, a common area for leaks.
