Painting a black car a different color?

Hey does anyone have any advice on this? do they normally paint the entire car..ie the door jams and under the hood? black sucks in this part of the country.

Whats the year/make/model ?
What kind of cond is the paint in now?
What color do you like?

Henry Ford used the color black, so everyone could afford a Model-T.

2011 camaro, it's black now. i wanted a diff color so it would be easier to maintain...i did not anticipate living here. oh yeah, it's stock paint...decent i guess...but hell today i took a whole bunch of time waxing polishing...etc...and now it looks like a dust bowl outside due to high winds...

Use the regular car wash with a quick rinse, soap & brush only, and spend $7 to
drive the car through the automatic car wash.
The Automatic car wash has filtered water soap, conditioners, wax, clean rinse, and blow drys your car. For $10 it looks like a professional detailed.

in my opinion you will devalue the '11 by changing the OEM color...black is tough in the hot summer, but like daniel said, the drive through car washes are great...you might want to think about applying a synthetic sealer on the maintain the clear-coat.

I agree, black looks beautiful when clean, but it is the hardest color to maintain in any weather. You must be very careful when washing not to rub dirt or use dirty mitts, as black shows swirl marks very was. However, I agree with Autocrafters on this one. I don't know if I would want to repaint a car that new a different color. It would cost a lot of money to paint jambs, under hood, etc., but it would not add any value to the car. You might try the synthetic sealer like Autocrafters mentioned.

If you're not concerned about the cost and you do not plan on ever selling the car, changing colors can be done. All you need to do is go to a reputable auto body shop and ask them for an estimate to paint complete inside and out. Most shops will give you a free estimate. Let us know your results!
