I have a squeaky power steering pump pulley. Shop manual and parts deal say its a splined pulley so I get one and the pulley puller to remove the old one. I rotated tensioner (pain in the butt without a special tool which I didn't have) to relieve tension on the seprentine belt and slipped it off but then realized that there is a nut on the end of pump shaft that can't be loosend without turning the pump. My question(s): How do I get that nut off ?, will I need a different pulley - I think they have one that isn't splined?
Thanks for any help.

Have you tried a strap wrench to hold the pulley?

Davescort97: I haven't tried a strap wrench. I'm guessing its going to take a lot of torque after 10 years to get the nut off the pump shaft. Never used a strap wrench but if it can keep the pulley from moving despite all the torque it should work.
Thanks for the suggestion.
