OK, here's the story.....first, my drivers door power window motor quit working. i replaced it. after fixing the window motor, my fuel guage, speedo guage, power mirror switch, and power door lock switches all quit working at the same time.
in no time, my speedo guage started working again, and a few days later, my fuel guage was working again too. that was a big relief, but my power mirror switch in drivers door panel, and all power lock switches do not work.
i did the basic check of the fuses. they all looked good. i tried to check the switches to see if i had power going into, and out of them, but my testor could not get contact with all of the wires. it looks like i have power going to them, but not sure about power coming out.
so i purchased another switch panel from my local junk yard. i hooked it up and i have the exact same problems. power mirror switch, and power lock switches do not work
are there any inline fuses, or relays that could cause this. or anything else that i am not aware of ?? i am not the smartest when it comes to electronics. any help will be appreciated.

The speedo and fuel gauge failure is almost certainly the ignition solenoid switch in the steering column harness. If it fails too many times, the tranny fluid pressure control pegs to max pressure, and you can blow the tranny. Be careful of this... Replacing it is a pain, but no special tools / knowledge required.
The master switch on the driver's door sometimes gets corrosion from rain leaks, from the sagging door hinges on S vehicles. I cleaned mine 3 times, and got about 4 years more out of it, before replacement.
Dis-assemble the switch, put it in a big plastic jug with soapy water, half full. Close it, shake pretty good, and rinse it in running water. Shake it out, then spray it with WD-40 with the little spray tube. Saturate it good, shake it out, then pull out what's left with a Shop-vac. I got 2 more years the first time, then a year.
Better than $115 at the dealer, all day yup...

Hey SCHRADE, thanks for taking the time to respond. i have to ask a question,in my post i said that my original, drivers door control panels switches for the mirrors, and door locks, quit working at the same time. i replaced the whole switch panel and switches with another panel and switches, and have the same problem. do you think it could still be that the switches are dirty ?? it makes me wonder since both panels have the same switches that don't work in my car.
all i know is i hate electrical problems. specially in the cold months !!!!
please let me know if you think it could still be the d--n switches.
thanks
ron

After cleaning that switch as he stated it would be OK to spray it real good with WD-40 that would displace all water in the switch, yet after I did that and before I put the switch back in I would spray it very good with some type of good lubricant.
