95 Silverado!
I have a code 43 present, the last of many that I have fixed on this wonderful machine.
This thing times @ 0 tdc.
It will not run unless I set it @ 12btc.
Problem got worse. Now it dies at every stop.
I guess I am looking for direction here, Quick fix that sort of thing. I can usualy be found in my garage doing some sort of repairs on the side but am married you see.
Keep getting called into the house. Between her and my regular job I can not find the time to keep trouble shooting this thing.
Do any of you have an idea (about the trouble code)
Thanks, Autoslave...

with timing issues on a 5.7L engine replace the distributor..
distributor bearings go bad , causing this usually...other distributor parts should also be replaced..
make sure all grounds are clean and secure, especially the ecm/computer ground..
check knock sensor wires / connections..

If I am not mistaken the knock sensor is a 1 wire deal. Is the sensor it self grounded to the block or is there another wire up in the harness that runs to ground?

knock sensor is one wire..the voltage generated by the sensor is created by engine noise. this very low voltage/current output is very sensitive to any poor grounds to/from the computer/ecm...
dtc 43 is/can be one of the items for this issue...too much knock sensor output/or false noise signal here , the timing gets retarded fully...

well with your help I have elimanated code 43. Thank you. It was a bad knock sensor.
Another question. Now when I get going the engine acts like it is only running on 4 cylinders until it finds its nitch but not before bucking and snorting. Hesitation and and then the horrible 4 cylinder thing. Thats the way it acts anyway. Do you have any idea where to attack this thing?

could be ignition system. plug wires, plugs, distributor/ and parts in the distributor .
measure plug wire resistance, pull plugs check for damage, remove distributor cap check for rotor play/arcing /wear internal connections.
under load engine missfires ? this is what I believe your saying .

Well my friend, I changed all the wires, cap and rotor when I could not get rid of the 43 code. That does not mean I did not buy faulty parts. I will check the plugs this morning. And yes this happens under a load. Thank you again, I owe you a beer or a cup of coffee at the very least.

A weak coil can exhibit the same symptoms.

plugs can be cracked, very hard to see. wires sometimes are open [no resistance] cap could be not correctly installed..
these are items I have seen and found to cause this issue.
a weak coil would also act like bad plug wire with low spark..
make sure distributor/coil electrical connections are all clean and tight..
hope this is it ..have a good holiday.
