My CCRM (#F6SF-12B577-AA) started smoking a few days ago, so I stopped driving the car.

It still starts & seems to run fine, however; When I took off the cover to the CCRM I noticed the the apx. 1" X 1" relay plugged into the in the K4 spot on the board is fried (along w/ it's section of the board). What I'm wondering is:

1.) Which component does that relay go to?

2.) Is there a website I can download the wiring schematic for the entire CCRM from?

&

3.) Should I replace the component 1st before the whole CCRM?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Can you tell which connector pins the relay contacts go to? If so I can probably tell you what component it does to. I have a block diagram somewhere of the CCRM, but not a detailed wiring diagram or PCB color keys.

I'm not sure it will serve you well to replace the relay and repair the traces versus purchasing a used CCRM from a salvage yard, but it would be good to check the circuit that was powered by the relay for damage. Have you dissected the relay to determine if the contacts inside burned up or if the coil melted? Any signs of moisture on other traces inside?

Thanks for the Reply Rod!

No, I can't tell which connector pins go to the fried relay with absolute confidence, but it looks like they might be 1/13 & 2/14 as they're closest to the fried relay. None of the wires coming from the block have any sign of burn-back & there's no sign of a moisture issue.

I totally agree that it's not worth it to repair the burned relay & board! I was planning on replacing the entire CCRM & have found many used ones on ebay, but I'd rather not waste the coin if whichever component the burned relay goes to caused the issue. Which is of course the reason I made my original post.

Lastly, no I haven't taken the relay apart & am not to sure I want to. I put the CCRM back into the car today & have been driving it around town without any issues (other than the burning smell). I went by NAPA & didn't get any help there, but he did bring up a good question: Why haven't any of my indicators on my dash lit up? Hmmm? I did try out my a/c & found it not working, so that might be it. Fortunately for us, it's snowing now so we won't be needing a/c anytime soon.

Keep in mind that the A/C is engaged to make the defroster more effective, assuming the ambient temperature is above freezing.
