Replaced brakes (rotors and drums) and they are dragging.

I replaced the rotors and drums, pads and shoes and all 4 wheels seem to be dragging. The brakes get hot and smell hot. I read through a few posts and wanted to confirm that the master cylinder may be the culprit. Any suggestions would be great. 2001 Limited 2WD with 136K

When you add new hardware, the fluid level in the reservoir goes up; so make sure that your fluid level is at the correct level.

When you installed the new pads, did you push the calipers back to their fully retracted position?

I've also had some issues where the thickness of the pads was incorrect for a given application. Double check to make sure yours are not too thick.

Did you adjust the rear drums properly when you installed the new shoes? There should be at least one hole in the backside of each rear brake assembly. On the inside of that hole should be the adjuster's star wheel. With everything put back together and the wheel off the ground you will want to turn the adjuster so that you just barely hear the shoe making contact with the drum. Do the same thing on the other side. Then make several relatively hard, complete stops in both forward and reverse and they should adjust themselves.

Thanks for the input. I'll check it out. I did let some of the old fluid out and topped it off after bleeding the brakes. The fronts were spinning freely prior to putting the wheels back on the ground. The rears were as well. I'll double check the fluid levels.

I've had clogged hoses prevent calipers from returning to resting point. May not be it since problem started after change, but if nothing else, check it out.

sounds like rubber brake hoses are getting colapsed replace witch ones are dragging or just do all four i'd replace all four rubber hose's if you have the money and it should be cured.
