Back strut knuckle

Busted both lower pinch bolts off.

Drilling them out, are there threads in both halves of the knuckle? cause i hacksawed the bolt apart to get the strut off the knuckle, and used an easy out got the threaded side of the bolt out, but there is still half in the knuckle and beating on it wont budge. If I drill, will I f#@k up threads?

i could be wrong but i thought that just the one side is threaded
have you tried a little heat??

Thats what I thought too (that only one side was threaded).

I have not tried heat yet, but tomorrow I will give it a shot.

is there any bolt sticking out that you can grab onto??
if i remember right this is a blind hole, makes it tough for drilling
but if it is'nt then i would just drill away
good luck

Nope, nothing sticking out anymore. I tried an easy out on the half that I thought was just a dead hole, but nothing is moving, infact I busted part of my easy out.

I have the strut and knuckle on the bench. (both in fact, second side is next) So drilling isn't tough. I just would rather not mess up threads. Maybe I'll start on the opposite side to see if I can get that one out without issues and see if that one is treaded on both sides. It just plain out wouldn't make sense if it was because then the bolt wouldn't pinch the halves of the strut together. (I would think). But then again, I think lots.

I haven't worked on one as new as yours, but the older ones were only threaded on one side, I suspect exactly for the reason you stated.

Thanks guys. I am going to work on these knuckles for 2 more days and if I can't get it, I am going to just buy used ones from a slavage yard. I'm beyond frustrated. Everything that can go wrong will.

To answer my own question, there are only threads in one side. The other side is where the bolt was siezed and was probably the reason the bolts broke off the begin with.
