Update on the CRX

Alright guys I have sort of a dilemma. The CRX is sort of leakin oil like all over the engine. I can't tell where it's coming from and I don't know what's causing it. Any help would greatly be appreciated. And sorry to say this but I might be gettin rid of the hatch. I still owe like 1800 on the loan if I sell my car for more then I can pay off the loan then have money to build up the Rex, but I don't know if I should buy it now because of the oil situation. PLEASE HELP!! :D

How many K's has it done?
If its coming out the bottum might be out of the old timing belt cover...
I would clean everything up start her up and see if u can watch where it is coming from or the general vacinity...

Get an engine shampoo done! Then take a look at it right after when everything is clean... I don't know if you're a mechanic, but if you can't tell, I'd get the engine shampoo and then take it right to the mechanic/shop. Good luck!

is it coming from the valve cover, because that is an easy fix, if its the sump then itsa a bit more hassel,

It looks like it is coming from the valve cover. And I don't remember how many miles it has. So should I just buy it anyways and just say "Fuck it" and whatever is wrong with it them just get it fixed?

well a valve cover gasket is easy to change, but its up to you m8 ;)

Hey guys I finally got the car in my driveway now. I cleaned her up and gave her a good bath. But as I said before it's leakin oil and it's smoking bad out of the exhaust. I don't have any clue or what to do. I was going to put in the shop to fix it but I don't know how much it's going to cost. Anyone with any knowledge please help me out. I just wanna stop it from leaking and smoking really bad. Thanks guys.

you gotta find the place its leaking from and then we can help ya out better as to what your best route will be.

You dont happen to have like 6 quarts of oil in there do you? Cuz that'll do it. I'd say, check ur oil (probly already done), change ur oil (also probly done), if neither of those fix it its probalby a gasket, 2 questions tho.


Pyro: Wat color is the smoke coming from the exhaust?

Everyone else: Couldnt it also be the head gasket as well as the valve cover gasket?

yes branman it can, it can be a bunch of other things too, id assume his smoke is the famous bluish-white color.

Yea it's like that color. How much do you think it will cost to get that fixed? Thanks again guys. Plus yeah I did change the oil and such.

I would guess head gasket, but im no mechanic, but the gasket cost like $24 at pep boys, not sure how hard install is. Might be better tryin valve cover gasket first, cuz thats easier. I get more advice from others.

the head gasket is not a fun job to do for a novice, not even an ace mechanic, they are time consuming and annyoing as all hell, but you might have to do it, i hope ur piston rings arent shot, thats an even more pain in the ass job to do, especially with the motor still in the car.

more than the cars worth. Cheaper to buy a stick in the first place.

88crx got his converted when he got his motor swap done, it was 2grandUS for everything so im guessing it actually only costed him like 400ish?
