Hi i am new here, my english is not so good, but wil be better after a while. I was bitten by the 1/24 slotcarvirus a couple of years ago.
The blue glof was build in the early 90's as a static model, a while ago i put a slotcar chassis under it so i could drive it.
From then on i dicided to build more like this:

I found two more Imai's, it would be a great idea to copy them in resin because they are a rare item these days.
I did make a mold of a MK2 before, also MK2 bumpers i made for an MK1 project.

I only have to make the rear one wider to fit the MK2 later on

So i put sideskirts on it.

http://www.modelbrouwers.nl/albums/coppermine/albums/userpics/11370/2010-10-23_00003.jpg

Actually the RTV was out of date, so it become to thick for casting. Instead of throw it away i was making the best out of it.
The result was not very well, like i expected.
The copy's has bubbles, corners are missing,... however i used the same workingflow as i did the MK2. It was trying worth it.
I have a couple of usefull copy's now + made a new mold however de RTV of that one is the same lot as the first

That is WAY COOL! I might have to get one of those bodies from you once you get the mold/resin straightened out.

Disturbed Angel, very nice job! It's a real work!

Could you describe which transparent resin did you use and how did you make the rear-lights? Thanks!

Sure ! it would be a pleasure. I'm also busy to vaccumform the windows. The good mold needs an inside mold to straigten the windows.
Well, you will read it here when it's all ready.

The taillights are the original Imai's, they are better than the tamiya's in my opinion. A bit thicker and larger.
I used a RTV silicone single mold (white), just the same i used for the body.
The resin is crystal resin from GEDEO you have to mix it 2/1 with the hardner. Just have to need a scale who's fine enough, you need one with milligrams because when its not the right ratio 2/1 it will result that the resin will not hardens out and it remains soft, even 6 months later.
Believe me, it happened once to me :) since then i have a pocket scale.
Then you cast smoothly the mixture into the mold to avoid bubbles.
let it harden out for at least 2 days, remove it from the mold and let it dry for one more day.
Done !
You can also mix the resin with tamiya acrylic smoke X-19 for smoked lights, or clear red, ...

I like the idea of the little clear boxes for your mold boxes. I bet it makes the casting process super easy.

Yup, keep clear from dust, easy to put away.

More primer & putty hopefully one of the last times on this one.
My idea was to paint it with some createx pearl white, but i'm not ready yet to use createx, it seems not so easy to use with my airbrush (badger) need to practice more first with createx.

I came to my (preliminary) putty /sanding limits
I found it enough for now, although I'm not 100% satisfied with the result, my limit is reached.
Time for colors !
Humbrol Primer was used, so i was bound to humbrol for all safety.
First tought was ferrari red, but ik became 99 lemon, it's a matt color so varnish invites itself.
Another strange thing... i can not take a picture with the color visible as it is for real :wtf:
