Brakes

I recently replaced the front and rear brake pads on my 2002 Buick Lesabre. I not only have about 1/3 pedal. I would like to have at least 2/3 pedal. What did I do wrong? If more info is needed please comment.

are they acually low when your braking or just sitting still??
if you checked to see the work you did was ok & you have seated
the pads in then more info is needed
is this 4 wheel disc??was the hydrolics opened or did you just push pistons back??

you have air in the brake system go ahad and bleed all 4 wheels and you should be good go unless you pop a brake line. they say to start on right rear witch is i think stupid as long as you beed all 4 then start it up and see how good of pedal you got and bleed them one more time and make sure pure fluid coming from all 4 bleeders and if you done rear brakes thats alll you have bleed but to make sure like said bleed them one more while it's running with somone in it pushing on petal see if any air comes out then.good luck....

I did bleed the brakes today and now I have a problem. I am afraid I will get thrown through the windshield, ha.

How would one get air in the system if they only replaced the front and rear pads. I have done my own brakes for more years than I care to remember, and never had air in the lines. The only time I ever needed to bleed lines was with a line replacement or a caliper replacement. What have I been doing right all these years?

yah like inafog said the system had to be open.

I agree, the system would have to have been opened, but the original poster made no mention of opening the system, just replaced the pads. Anyway, just an observation.
