Transmission problem???

Hey all, been a while since my last problem, but now I'm having a strange, potentially expensive issue. Background - My truck is a 1995 Silverado 1500, 5.7L V8, automatic trans. This morning all was fine on the way to work, until I came to a stop. When accelerating after the stop, the engine went to 2500RPM before shifting to 2nd gear, then 2500RPM to 3rd gear, and the same to 4th gear. Continued doing this every time I came to a stop, then tried to get back up to speed(60MPH). I figured transmission finally went(as I have 172K miles on it), but when I shifted into park, instead of the usual 700RPM, then engine was running at 1000RPM, and not a steady idle either. So I shut the truck off, and start it up about 10 minutes later, and it's running fine again!!! Any ideas on what this problem could be??? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

TPS possibly. I would have it scanned to be sure.

Update, I was able to read the fault codes and came up with:
22, 28, 32, 54, and 59. Code 22 points to the throttle position sensor, as the above poster recommended, so I'll change that this weekend, and then see if the other fault codes clear up.

Repair/replace the TPS then you have to clear the stored codes. Once a fault is detected, whether it was 2 minutes or 2 years ago, it is stored in the ECM until it is cleared. Erasing them and then checking for new codes will help you find out what your current problem is.
