Bought a 1994 F250 5.8L about a year ago. Had just had new injectors installed and front end rebuilt. AC unit locked up so a mechanic put different serphine belt to bypass unit. Started hearing the belt squeek about a month ago when weather turned cooler. Engine light came on. Went to Autozone but they could not read it because truck to old. Now tach and battery gauge stopped working, light went out, and truck surges while driving. Belt still squeeks. Acts as tho maybe fuel pump going out. Has duel tanks but doesnt make a difference which tank is on. Any way to check? Thanks for your help:smile:

I think I fixed the problem. Went to another Autozone where they read engine code of 327,332, an 691. the first two were for the EGR valve not getting enough voltage, probabally due to wrong serphine belt. Didnt have a code listed for the 691 but am still looking for that one. Anyway bought a AC bypass pulley, about $25.oo and the correct belt. Pulled AC unit off ( there was no freon left in system) Put new pulley and belt on, took it for a drive about 30 minutes and no more surging. Also found a fuse blown for the tach and voltage meter so I changed that too. Dont know it it had anything to do with my problem, but it was a easy fix. The new pulley has 3 mounting holes in the bracket which workes out great because you can use the 4th hole from the original base thats left on the motor to zip tie the hoses securely if you dont want to pull them off for now. Hope this helps anyone with the same problem. Now over to the 2000 Taurus forums where I hope to find info regarding the ABS light thats on in my car. Good luck to all
