2000 Sable Radio Antenna Issue

I purchsed the car a year ago and have been driving around with little to no radio and its getting rather annoying.

I have the 6 disc changer in the back but it doesn't seem to work for some reason. I thought maybe the antenna just wasn't plugged in in the back of the radio so I bought the removal tools and saw that there wasn't a place to hook it into.

I did see that the wiring as all in the trunk area... can anyone tell me what the problem might be? Is it possible that there is a wire for the antenna that plugs into the cd changer? I have a few different wires that I don't really know where they go. 1 red, 1 yellow, and a couple that are black and a few black boxes of some sort. (Sorry I don't know more about this) Anyways, since the disk changer doesn't work I'd just like to disconnect it and have my radio working.

Radio has a lot of static, some stations come in depending on where I am but I just can't handle not having a radio any longer.

Can someone please help?

Thanks

Is the CD changer a wireless unit? In other words, does it only have a red and black wire? If so, then you will need to tune your radio to a station like 88.3 FM or something like that. You should be able to take some info off of the CD changer and look it up on the Internet. Try to download the user manual from their support page.
Secondly, red wires are almost always positive; black wires are almost always negative (or ground); and the yellow wire is usually for a power antenna.
Third, many of the new cars have seperate components hidden in the trunk area of a car and the "radio" in the dash is merely a control module. If you have a power antenna, and the yellow wire is not connected, that may explain why your reception is not very good. The power antenna module may also be in the trunk. Check for loose connections.
Lastly, tell me more about these black boxes. Where are they located and what do they look like?

An old post but I have this issue. The problem is my radio was doing the same thing. My Sable has some serious strut issues. I've already replaced them all twice but it doesn't matter because the problem reoccurs. This is where my radio came into play. It broke once before and now it is broken again. The first time it was because of the struts being blown. It somehow slammed it enough and broke one of the clips to the radio harness. That let the harness dangle freely in the trunk for every pot hole, every puddle and rain storm, snow ect to get on it. There is a hole under the carpet in the trunk on the drivers side right underneath where the wiring harness is located. I'm not sure if they come with a plug for it but mine doesn't have one. I had to replace the harnesses and then the radio worked fine. 2 years later it has happened again. This time the harness is completely corroded near where the wires meet the clips. This is because there is a small leak in the gasket for the trunk and water was soaking the harness. I ignored the problem until it started happening after I hit every bump. The radio would shut off for a second and then come back on. Finally last week I hit a bump with the left rear tire and my radio has been dead since. I have to replace the harness again and fix the leak. I'm hoping that this corrosion is the problem and it's not a break in the wires somewhere less convenient...
