Z71 low front end

I have an 03, Z71. The front sits lower than the rear. I would like to raise the front to be level with the rear. I was going to get some coil spring spacers, but, it has NO front springs. What can I do??

your truck has torsion bars , you could crank them up a little to even out the truck but if you go too far it will start to wear your tires on the outsides plus stifen the ride in the front

Will crankin them up in turn weaken them eventualy, or shorten their life???

I have an 02 Silvy 1500 with the Z-85 (worktruck) suspension and it sits pretty low in the front-- What do you recomend (you seem to know what your talkin about Jeverett)

i recommend getting the 255/85/16's because they are quite a bit narrower that the 285's which in turn will be easier on the suspension components. And as foir cranking the torsion bars, i cranked mine 4 turns each .... which pretty maxed out the bolts and barely got just over an inch of height...... was thinking of removing the short bolts and installing ones that were about a 1/2 inch longer or so although it did level it out fairly good , but in turn it did stiffen it up quite a bit. Will prolly just leave it as is

As far as them wearing out, I've had mine turned since it was new, and they still sit the same height, and do not seem any weaker. But beware, like someone earlier said, if you turn then too much, it will eat the outside of your tires bad, it will also decrease the amount of downtravel of the suspension so it'll ride like an old wagon. Just turn them until it gives you the clearance needed, and if it doesnt look good enough, maybe 1 more turn wont hurt. I've personally done mine 6 times and my tires wear even, and the ride is still just as good.

As several folks have mentioned, cranking up the torsion bars may result in tire wear. This is because when you crank them up you change the alignment. So just remeber if you do crank them up take your truck in and get it realigned.

Arguably, it sounds like cranking the torsion bars works for street use. But what about the weekend offroader? I have a 2000 Z71 with 285/75-16's that I occasionally take on moderate trails . . . my concern is the stress of cranked torsion bars + stress of offroading = broken components. Any feedback? Thanks

i cranked my bars 4 turns ( did them 2 and saw no change) and now my truck is level.. It looks sweet.

I have to align it in my auto class but im going to wait untill i get my new tires.....thanks for the advice guys
