1995 LeSabre --snap,crunch pop sound when turning

My 1995 LeSabre has started to make a metal on metal like pop sound when I make a turn or go over a small bump, like entering my driveway, like when a spring cracks and when it compresses, it makes the pop,crunch, sound.
Steering wheel is steady,not solid, but does not shimmy while driving.
I wiggled my front tires from side to side , and they are solid.
Noise seems to be from drivers side front of the car.

Suspect upper strut mount as the most common area for this, check it out using a helper turning the wheel while you feel the spring or upper strut retaining nut.
