1999 grand voyager blower motor won't work at all

My blower motor quit working this morning on my 99 grand voyager. I checked both the fuse and the relay and they are fine. It will not work on any speed, I have not had a chance to test the motor directly yet with a battery, but was wondering if this could possibly be the resistor block. It seems most of the problems with the resistor block are when some of the speeds work and some don't, but i've seen some posts on some of the models where it was still the resistor block and the blower didn't work at all. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The panel switch switches the ground to the motor and sends the ground path through a bank of resistors in the resistor block. When the switch is in the high speed position it connects a ground that bypasses the resistor block. If the blower works on high speed only then the resistor block is the usual culprit. If it doesn't work at all then the fuse, relay, motor, or wiring are the problem. We sure wish it was all that cut and dried at least. Unknown to many because no wiring diagram I've seen shows it, there is a thermal fuse on the resistor block on some model years. Not sure if your's applies. This fuse will kill all power to the blower motor. I have read you can get the fuse at Radio Shack.

Have you checked both (normal) fuses? There's one on the junction block fuse panel and another in the PDC by the battery. One controls power to the relay coil (input) and the other sends power through the relay contacts (output) and on to the motor. Might try checking for power at the blower motor connector with a meter or test light. If it's there the motor is toast.

I checked and was getting voltage to the motor, so I tapped on the bottom of the blower housing with a screwdriver and the motor started working again. I think its probably either a bad connection or possibly a "dead" spot in the motor, but I cannot get it to fail again now at this point, so I'll just leave it alone and keep an eye on it. I'm going to be disappointed if I end up having to replaced the motor, I just replaced it back in february! Thanks for the reply.

Some insist on changing the resistor block when changing the motor. Maybe there's something to it. Who knows? Does your van have a HVAC system filter? Look to the left of the glove box on the housing. If you see a 2 inch by 6-8 inch panel, you may. If it gets clogged your blower motor can overheat.

Is the filter you are referring to, what they would call the cabin air filter on some models? I don't think mine has one, but I checked under the hood, not under the dash on the housing, so I will check that to make sure. thanks.

Yup. One in the same. Wasn't sure if 99s had them but worth looking into.

I have a '99 shorty and it doesn't have one. I think the cabin filters started in '01.
