93'3800 engine-no power. need help

my dads van just all of a sudden loss power. he has to give it alot of gas to get going. but once he gets going its ok. when he slows down to turn into his steep driveway it wont climb it. he has to have a running start. the funny thing is reverse is fine. you stomp on the gas pedal and it goes right now! also at the same time this happen. the bell charm that comes on when the lights are left on when you would exit the vehicle,stays on when you turn the head lights on. and it wont stop ringing!!! where do i start.

disregard. pulled the codes and its a transmission problem. yeah:eek2:

this time of year catlitic coverter could be the problem? or maybe you need to change tranny fluid and filter and check for metal is in the fluid you just drained with magnet. it could be the tranny module also but you also may need new tranny or rebuilt if you burnt up clucthes.
