The light is not stupid.
It is telling you you have a problem.
Go Down in the S-10 formum in the how to section.
And find this link by Mud dog.

Well....I decided to trace the long vacuum hose and while doing so , found it to be soft , brittle and split at certain junctions . I bought 2 yards of hose and began replacing all of the hose from the bottom up around the carb and over to the right side . The very last piece fell off before i got to it to see where it was connected . I cut off a new length the same as what was there ,..but..i don't find any place to push it onto a plastic piece . :banghead:
Now that's not funny ! :lol2:
Okay , here's where it stands right now ..i think it goes underneath the part it's sitting on , but , i don't feel anything under there to connect to . :jerking:

look for a vacuum hose routing diagram sticker under the hood someplace, some cars have them. That will help you determine where the vacuum hoses go. If it does not have one, you should be able to find it in a service manual.
Good Luck.

it might be running into plastic black t and you cant see it because of it being black or one part of the t broke off.

I had the same problem with my '01 (P0410 light kept coming on).
There's a fuse and a relay inside the fender well by the battery. You have to remove the battery to get to it.
Replaced the blown fuse on mine, and the light has stayed off for 3 months now. Can't help you with the vacuum line, but these pumps are known to cause problems ('98 to '01s), as they load up with water, and in my case the water freezes, blowing either the pump, or the fuse, or both.

There is a vacuum reservoir inside the left fender. In the image on the left, the white check valve / vacuum tee is pointing to the connector where the line goes. There is a fitting that sticks out about 3/4" just rearward of the EBCM and forward of the hood hinge. The fitting is horizontal and points right at the check valve ;) stick your hand in there, you'll feel it! If you leave the line disconnected, the 4WD and HVAC system will not operate correctly.

OMG ! :smokin: Happy days are here again....at least we got that frigging one over with ! The OLD MASTER was certainly a master at that one . You were right , it was just a little black nipple hiding underneath the fender itself and pointing straight out inside of a depression . YEAH 4 U :grinyes: .
We actually located it by using a dentist mirror out of the medicine cabinet because i don't own a mechanics mirror today , but , i will tomorrow . So Old Master , thanks a heap 4 getting it right , and you may want to remind some of us to use our brains and get a mirror .. :lol2:
