Built this new Revell '62 Impala for the Scale Auto Dec. 2010 issue.
Built completely out of box, I used different trim on the sides. The driver's side has the separate rocker panel trim, whitewall decals, and full wheelcovers. The passenger side shows simpler trim; no rocker trim, and dog dish hubcaps on body color steel wheels.
It's a really nice kit, assembly was more "Tamiya" than usual for Revell.
Paint is Tamiya pure white for the roof, and AS-29 Gray Green covered w/TS-13 clear for the body, and w/o clear for the interior.

Decals didn't like settling into the very finely engraved seat detail; fortunately what looks terrible in this photo isn't visible inside the finished model.

Very cool Bob. I like the idea of the 2 different sides.

Nice one bob, i have to say that the pics you post on af give you more justice than those tinnie pics in scale auto. Either way thanks for sharing and a simple, clean build!

I agree, looks good too and I like the crisp, clear close up shots! Color looks like pea soup to me (my father has a friend with a MB 190SL aptly named Pea Soup b/c of its color).

Thanks!
The color was an attempt to look like "surf green", but definitely skews more towards "pea soup" green. The cap/color sample at the hobby shop under their lighting looked perfect. Oh well...I do like the color, even if it's not exactly authentic. It's definitely the best looking '62 kit done for a few reasons; the AMT Bel Air and Impala CV have an odd looking grille, the original AMT annual kit has a weird appearance to the headlights and surrounds. With Revell making a second version of this kit, with "California Wheels" option and SS trim w/bucket seats, they should do pretty well sales-wise.

Excellent, great looking Impala and super work as with all of your builds! The new Revell kit looks really nice. I prefer the less cluttered appearance of the side with the dog dish hub caps.

It's like looking at the actual car at the showroom. Beautiful clean work. Interior, engine bay, everything is perfect. Using different trim on each side was a brilliant idea.

My brother bought a 91 Ford Tempo that had different pinstripes, hub caps and door handles on one side. We didn't notice it for about 3 years! lol
Model looks great. I wish my oob builds were as clean as yours.

Super clean finish. Excellent BMF work. Looks real in some shots. You mention a 2in 1 version, do you know when this will be available? Probably not to UK?
