BATTERY CHARGED GOOD STARTER WORKS GREAT RUNS GREAT DOES NOT DIE WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. BUT SOMETIMES WHEN I TRY TO START IT JUST CLICKS. DOME LIGHT WORKS CLOCK WORKS GAUGES WORK. YES TERMINALS ARE CLEAN AND RIGHT VOLTAGE ALL THE WAY AROUND. NOW IT WILL EVENTUALLY START AND RUN FINE . THEN THE NEXT DAY., WEEK, OR HR. IT WILL NOT START. THIS TIME NO DOOR CHIME, NO GAUGES, NO LIGHTS, NO NOTHING. BUT IT STILL CLICKS AND WON'T START. BUT EVENTUALLY IT WILL START. DID HEAR LIKE HUMMING OR BUZZING THIS MORNING UNDERNEATH.....ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED...........:jerking: 2.4 4 CYLINDER NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS

Similar issue with my '96 and it was the starter that was working intermittently. I relalced the starter and that solved the problem

The fact your starter at least always clicks rules out the input side of the starter relay meaning the ignition switch, the relay itself, and the ground from the PCM. I would still be suspisious of the battery. If you haven' yet, have it load tested. Have you tried jump starting it with another car? If it starts, get a battery. If it's over 4 years old, get a battery.

Now for the output side. You say the starter works great. What does that mean? How did you prove that? Are you checking starter voltages? Next time it clicks, turn the key to start and measure the voltage at the solenoid connection. Should be close to 12 vdc. Moderately tap the starter with a hammer. If you have 12vdc and/or it starts when you tap it, the starter solenoid contacts are shot. You can either change the contacts or pay twice as much and change the starter. BTW - check the voltage at the battery connection at the starter while you're down there. Should see 12vdc at all times. Are the starter connections clean and tight?

"THIS TIME NO DOOR CHIME, NO GAUGES, NO LIGHTS, NO NOTHING. BUT IT STILL CLICKS AND WON'T START." That means it clicks and nothing happens correct? Is this happening after it's been sitting for a while, like overnight? Might be a parasitic drain. Battery cables can corrode internally where you can't see it. Shake them while starting.
