s10 4x4 not dis-engauging

01 s10 4x4 sometimes sounds like it is not dis-engauging, while driving in 2wd slight grinding noise , then i press 4x4hi button noise goes away, then i press 2wd button noise my go away or may resume. i may have to do this several times to stop the noise . i have had to a mach. and to a trans shop , both have no answer.

What transfer case?
Auto 4W or reg?
Have you checked transfer case for codes?
