Doing research on some oem scantools, for instance: recently found a website that sells hardware that will allow me to reprogram a pcm( with a 1 day pass) for a small fee. Currently using xxxxx laptop based program, and im good with it. Will a snap on or mac allow me to reprogram pcm's, or will buying all three 3 pass thru sytems, and do the pay as you go thing, or does each manufacturer allow to connect and reprogram with there scan tool(tech II. vag. star. etc).I've worked on the manufacuring side for the past few years, so i need to catch up but tired of sending customers away because i cant repair the vehicle

That depends on what types of vehicles you want to program. The OTC Genisys will allow you to reprogram GMs with the appropriate software, but as far as I know, they only offer this for GMs. I'm not sure about the Snap-On. The Mac is a re-badged Genisys.

Thanks for your reply ROD, I have got out of alot of jams just by listening to your advise for awhile. But if i want to reprogram all of the big three. is it necessary to buy all three scan tools
