Car completely shuts off at random. Help!

About a month ago I tried starting the car and I would turn the key and get a clicking sound. I replaced the starter and that worked several times but then I got the clicking sound again. The battery cable is bad. Now, when I try to start it about 1 out of 10 times it just clicks. I pop the hood and jiggle the positive cable until it makes contact again and BAM it starts! I was driving twice in traffic and the car completely shut off! I have no juice, I can't even turn the hazards on so I need this fixed soon!

So can I replace the part of the cable that connects to the battery or do I have to replace the whole cable? Can I fix the cable somehow? It doesn't look bad but the connection is poor so I have to jiggle it. It is hooked to a dry cell battery and isn't really corroded at all (was on a wet battery so it may be a little corroded).

So how can I fix this in the easiest way? I will be going through Denver next week so I need this thing reliable. Thanks!

Change out the cable. If it is that bad at the battery connection, it is probably bad all the way around. Another problem with the cable is that over time it gets "harder", driving up the electrical resistance, and dropping the voltage to the starter (or any other electric component). Remove the cable and take it to any parts store and they can match it up. I just went through something like this with my Park Avenue. It's amazing how bad these cables can get.

I cleaned the battery and cable ends very well as the cables were still a bit corroded from before I got my dry cell battery. They shine now and I tightened both cables back on very securely. Car has started fine since (10 starts). We'll see how it goes...
