Do you have a manual or automatic transmission?
p.s You will need camshafts.

TwickFlow Twisted Wedge heads, stage 2 street/strip cams, Stainless Works long tube headers, a dyno tune should already get you close to 400HP (at the flywheel). If you want 400+RWHP, then get the Novi w/ intercooler.
You'll need a high flow fuel pump (Walbro 255 are good), and 30 lb/hr injectors...maybe higher. An 80 or 90mm MAF will also be necessary to flow enough air. And then a 75mm throttle body to get the air flow needed.
With a supercharger and that much power, I'd go with 3.55 or 3.73 gears since otherwise first gear will do nothing but roast tires.

Since you have a 4R70W (auto) transmission, you can also do the J-mod for some tire-barking firm shifts at WOT.
Pretty much everything I listed above can be bought from Summit Racing or their respective manufacturer sites.
I had my tune done by Lonnie at Blue Oval Chips. He's the best in my opinion. You'll want a dyno tune from him to get maximum power. An email tune will be satisfactory before any blower is added for slightly improved power and a massively improved shift schedule.
J-mod you don't need parts except basic hand tools, a drill, some new Mercon V fluid, and new gaskets which can be found at your local dealer. Instructions are at TCCOA.
And for your choice of blowers, a roots type blower will provide more torque at lower RPMs and should not require an intercooler. If you go centrifugal, get a high stall torque converter, around 3500 RPM. With a roots, 2600 should be sufficient with the boosted low end torque.

Twisted Flow 2v 4.6/5.4L heads @ Summit Racing (http://www.summitracing.com/search/Department/Engines-Components/Part-Type/Cylinder-Heads/Make/FORD/Engine-Size/4-6L-281/?keyword=trick+flow)
There are a few options and you will have to see what fits your needs/goals. Also note there are two combustion chamber size options in that list, 38cc and 44cc. Depending on the compression ratio you want. You'll want lower compression if you want to go blown or use nitrous to be safe.
And a much cheaper alternative to a supercharger is a nitrous kit. Zex kits are popular on the 4.6L 2v engines.

I'm not sure what the V6 uses for a transmission. If it is the same 4-speed automatic 4R70W, it can handle about 400WHP.
Not sure what the V6 mod engines are capable of.

AFAIK, there are no aftermarket heads for the V6 engines. There may be V6 headers, but I know Stainless Works does not make any. Cams, I don't know what's offered in that area, either.
Honestly, if he wants to improve power, get a V8. The torque increase alone will put a big smile on his face.
And like I said, I don't know what transmission the V6s used. If it is the 4R70W like in the V8s, then yes it will hold up. I've seen a few pushing 500WHP with only an aftermarket torque converter and a J-mod for their HP range.

Hello, I hope this reaches somebody soon. I am working on my 2004 Mustang 3.9 and I am installing the pinion into the rear end, the front bearing is not sliding on easily and was wondering if somebody knew of a secret they could share. I am VERY mechanically inclined but have taken on a rear end for the first time.
Thanks
Dan
