Any ideas on what to check for a '99 Elantra that does not allow a normal fuel fill rate when filling the tank with gas? If I try to run at anything more than a trickle, the gas pump keeps shutting off. It can take 5 to 10 minutes to fill the tank with gas. Thanks!!

Doe's the shut off happen at every Gas pump station?
The nozzel on the gas pump might be set too sensitive.
Try a new gas station + pump.
Also check simular threads at the bottom of this page, after Ads by Google.
PLEASE, let us know what you find out.

I should have clarified that this is NOT related to a specific fueling station or pump. This is a problem with this car and I have been putting up with it for quite some time. I read the related posts and figured that it was related to getting air out of the tank while fueling but was hoping that someone knew something specific to this Elantra model as far as which component is the most likely problem. I am not willing to throw hundreds of dollars at this guessing at what components to replace. I will end up putting up with the problem unless I can pinpoint something. Thanks so much for your response.

I remember another thread on this a while back. I think this was it:

In this case, I got lucky and resolved by disconnecting air return lines and blowing the lines out with a compressor (got a bunch of junk out) . Some of the small beads from the canister came out as well but I am sure you dont need every last one of them. I hope others have some good luck as I did.
