Hi, Im a new poster to AF, been looking here for help for a couple years. Here is my problem. Just bought a 1998 Oldsmobile 88 recently and the windows quit working. They worked the night i brought the car home and 2 days later when I went to go to work they wouldn't go down. None of the switches for the windows work. Checked fuse boxes but couldn't find anything for windows, the circuit breaker under the hood is still good according to my cheapo tester. I replaced the switches in both front doors. Those were the only ones used when we brought the car home. I have power to everything else in the car except the windows. Used a tester to check for power to drivers door switch and have nothing. Any help or incite would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

On the driver door switch: all wires should show less than 5 ohms resistance to ground EXCEPT the pink wire, and it should show battery voltage with the key in the accessory and run positions. Check the owners manual for the fuse/circuit breaker location and make sure it's good. A common place for wires to break is in the rubber boot that goes from the "A" pillar to the door. The wires usually break inside the insulation so at a glace the wire appears to be ok.

On both the drivers and passenger side, there is a Ground Strip with the wiring harness... The drivers side is as far left as you can go attached to the wiring harness, on the passenger its a far right as you can go.... Both are under the carpet in the foot well... Remove and clean the Ground bars and see if you get you power windows back..
Quick question tho, did you lose anything else?

@Old_Master-Thank you for the help, havent gotten a chance to try it yet. Ive been working too much.
@Jrs3800-Thanks for the tip. No every thing else works. Power seat and mirrors and locks all work like they should. The only thing that I'm not sure of working is the radio being that when I got the car it didnt have one in it and I havent had a chance to go get a cd player and wire it in.
