fuel tank above spare tire

what is this litte tank ~2.5 gal above my spare tire for? Looks like it has its own pump too. Its fed from the large hose coming out of main tank.

2003 Ranger 3.0

Just by guessing, it could be an auxiliary/emergency fuel tank.

no its a charcoal canister its part of the evap system
