And slowly but surely, I'm in the act of culling the ranks of my old Mazda buddies.
One of the guys who I'm real good friends with (and dating the girl with the 8 I raced) wanted to line up from a 60 punch. He's been wanting to try out a stock Z, so I decided to oblige him. All I have is a K&N drop in, he is stock on Enkei PF01s.
First run we line it up, I start in 3rd at 60 and he honks us down. He got a quick jump on me but I put it to rest real fast, and started to open up on him. Flat shift to fourth at 80, and pulled consistently but slowly out to 115ish when his girl in the 8 said I was about a car and a half or so up.
Lined up again, this time we both took off at the same time. Same results pretty much, started pulling right from the start, opened up by about a car and a half or so by 100, ran out to 125-130 where I let off two cars or so up.
He was, obviously, a little upset with the results, but I told him no worries, just get a CAI, and he'll drag my ass up and down the highways around here all day long.

Gotta love that HR! I was thinking your car was an 05 for some reason and was thinking your friend just sucked at driving but then I remembered you have the HR lol

Lol, not an HR. Its a RevUp. There are three versions of the VQ in the Z: The VQ35DE, the VQ35DE RevUp, and the VQ35HR.
The DE RevUp was available in the 2005 35th Ani and Track Package, and in all 2006s. It is similar to the DE, but it has a revised lower plenum (making spacers obnoxiously hard to buy), a more aggressive velocity stack on the intake (making intakes obnoxiously hard to buy), intake AND exhaust cam timing (making cams obnoxiously hard to buy), and a slightly more aggressive ECU flash with the red line raised to 7000rpm from 6500.
The HR is the twin intake version, and I am to understand that it shares very, very little in common with the DE or DE RevUp.
The DE is 287hp, the RevUp is 300hp, and the HR is 306hp in the US market. I would have loved to get the HR, but even private sellers around here wanted waaaaaaay to much for the HRs. The cheapest one I could find they wanted 18k for it and it had more miles than the one I got.

Oh I wasnt aware of the rev up. The power outputs between yours and the HR are much closer than yours and the DE though, so it makes sense that you pulled it that hard

Yup, it took me a while to figure out all the differences and research which one would be the best buy. Its harder to find parts that have legit results on the RevUp, but the results are better.
