Hello, I've been searching around and listening to many exhaust notes and I've come to like quite a few straight pipe setups. I was thinking of going with a straight pipe from the cat all the way to the end. I was suggested to just straight it from cat to the back in order to keep it emissions passable as NJ only requires emissions now for inspection. Let me know on your opinions. Will the straight pipe reduce performance? I've searched so much I have all this info and need clarification and to put some of this in order.
Any links to builds would be awesome. Thanks!

Straight pipe means no cat, otherwise it's a catback.
The only time you can really get away with this and not look like a ricer is to have a turbo in front. It will sound like shit otherwise.
2 options.
1. Get a high flow cat, resonator in the middle and a can at the back.
2. High flow cat, no resonator, a magnaflow muffler.
If you got the 4banger go 2.5in, V6 go 2.75 to 3in

just do what i did. get a high flow cat for 3" and then get an adapter to weld to the header and run 3" all the way back to a round muffler. its loud but i like the way my car sounds.
