Hi, i've got a bad passenger side inner tie rod end, the ball and socket end of it doesn't have the normal flat sides to use the tie rod socket, do I use a pipe wrench? Of is there something i'm missing? The new ones look like normal inner tie rod ends, with the recesses to install the tool for removing/installing. Thanks.

Found some info, looks like you use a vice grips or pipe wrench on the original one, but the new one will come with recesses. Damn manufacturer.

I just did the repair on my 95 sentra, the new ones I got were also completely round as well with nothing to get a hold of(but maybe not all of them), just take vise grips like he said, not much clearance to get a pipe wrench on them, I just turned the wheel all the way to the left for the drivers side, and all the way to the right for passenger side, used vise grips with a big wrench hooked to the end to use as a breaking bar, when putting the new ones back in, use some locktite. While you are doing this job inspect your ball joints as well, to see if they need replacing. If they do and you need help on that it's a whole other topic. After you get everything done make sure you get it aligned.
