problem with my headlights

ive tried naxos and streetglow as well as random generic brands, but headlights (hyper white) dont last in my car for any more than 2 months. the standard yellowish ones have never gone out on me so i use those as backup.. but does anybody know or have an idea on why mine keep burning out? 9006 bulbs, btw. my friend has had a pair of naxos H4 for over 3 years with no problems, another has had streetglow H4 for almost 2 years. are 9006 just shit? or are my headlights getting too much current?

DO NOT touch the glass part when handling

Do you have moisture in your head light assy.? If you do that will kill a bulb in a short time. You might have an electircal issue.

One thing to keep in mind when using after-market(higher output) headlights is that your headlight wiring harness/connectors may melt from the high temp. I have seen this happen amny times, working @ a honda dealer doensy help:eek: Some supplier of after-market offer new leads for their headlights that wont melt.

This one kid tried to install an aftermaret oil pressure gauge & stripped, then broke the fitting off & drove it pissing oil to the dealer. He cried to his mom when we told him warranty dont cover stupid peoples mistakes.:alien:

yea, i think i mightve burned my first bulb becuase of finger oils, but none since them. the bulbs look perfect from a distance of 2 feet or more, but the filament always cracks. i havent noticed any moisture. if its my filament thats breaking could that be because of a melted harness? or are these bulbs just somehow getting too much current or...i have no idea. but its getting annoying. thanks

I was gonna say the same thing about not touching the bulbs. but maybe you should try a different brand of bulbs..??

if you touch the bulbs, your finger oils get on the bulb, and then that spot heats up much faster than the rest of the bulb, causing it to bubble out, thin, and eventually break, causing a burnt out bulb. thats not my problem though, the filament is cracking, and ive tried 4 or 5 different brands, 2 of which are highly spoken of. but yea, logical suggestions.

well heres the update - today i was just sitting around and i noticed a switch sitting around that i'd forgotten about. a looong time ago, when the hood lights first came out, i had a switch for them wired into my dash. but i got a ticket for them and took them off for the court date, and never bothered to put them back in since so many other people had them by the time i got that ticket. so...loose wires sitting around not connected to anything. im thinking that might be screwing with the headlights somehow... these wires were attached to a fuse on my interior but i lost the cover so i dont know what for. and now my ABS light turned on so my car is chilling with a disconnected battery while i write this. so i think im gonna buy another pair of hyperwhites and see how it goes

Try this, disconnect all the aftermarket BS & use normal headlights. Then see what happens...

anyone ever tell you your name is fitting, jackass? i might buy an HID kit but i personally cant stand yellow lights.

didnt mean to be rude...and im still trying to figure out exactly what that animation is supposed to be, but your reply didnt exactly help. and i dont have any aftermarket BS for lighting unless you count non-yellow bulbs

these wires were attached to a fuse on my interior

If the wires were stuck in with a fuse, you have spread the prongs inside the fuse box. Maybe the fuse isnt making proper contact? I dunno, its happened before causing all types of weird electrical problems.

i have had the same problem with my 9006 bulbs ( white-blue bulbs). when i bought my car, in 1997 (honda accord LX) i didn't like the stupid clear lights so i bought a pair of "hyper white" 9006s. They only lasted me 3 weeks; one blew out. After that i bought 2 PAIRS, only lasting me about 3 months; paid $20-25 each pair. Finally fed up, i bought PIAA brand 9006 platinum whites (street legal and well worth it for the $75 price) you get a HID brightness at a fraction of the price. well anyway, they finally blew out a couple weeks back and now I am running on CATZ HID 4500K rising white color. The basic moral of the story is you get what you pay for; if your gonna pay 20 to $70 for a pair of bulbs you will only get what you pay for. My HIDs are guaranteed not to blow out for 10 years, if they Do they are covered under warranty so :P

yea, the naxos i had were i think $60, the others were usually $40 or so. im seriously considering HID right now. my friend makes kits that he plans on selling online for $300...and cheaper for me

and with that shock as you get out of your car, probably related to your stereo. I have two amps put on the back on the rear seats in my trunk. if my seat is down most of the time i get shocked.

you think so? cuz i dont even really have a stereo right now, just the deck and some upgraded 6.5s with stock 6x9s and no external amps.

hmm...ok, nevermind.

if anyone is going to upgrade to HIDs, i definitly would recommend CATZ. They have a failure rate of 1out of 250 parts per million. All the equipment is made by one manufacturer not like the other HID kits which borrow parts from other manufacturers.
