Oil light iluminated 2nd Generation

Oil light flickered on and off a few times earlier today, I cussed it out, and it has not come back on.

It was toward the end of a 20 or so mile drive mostly at 50-60 MPH and the engine is a 3 Litre V6. I do not have an oil pressure gauge, but one would have been nice. The van has never done this in 15 years of ownership I am assuming and certainly not within the past year. I checked the oil 4 times and it was full. When I opened the lid where the new oil is put in a bit of heat I guess you would call it came out, but it was visible and just a few wisps.

As mentioned earlier the light did not come back on, the vehicle behaves fine, I did not add any oil, the oil pan, and gasket have been replaced recently. When the pan and gasket were replace an oil change was done. The oil smells fine, looks fine, feel fine, and I even checked it last week. No grit either.

So, any ideas?

Oil light is not for oil level/condition, it is for telling you there is no oil pressure. Get a mechanical gauge on it and monitor it to make sure the oil pump is not going out.
