good engine?

I've never had an S-10 before. I'm loohin to buy one, and i'd like to know what engine lasts the longest. I know that the 3.8 was always the one to look for in my other CARS, but is there one to look for in an S-10? Any advice would be great, thanks. i figured a 2wheel drive extended cab would be a nice addition!

You have your choice of the 4.3 liter and the 2.2 liter. The 2.2 is prone to head gaskets leaking externally. The 4.3 is prone to intake gasket failures. So there is really no up side to either.
