I have a 1999 Ford Taurus. I received a check engine light code - P0401. The call out was to replace the EGR valve. I have done that, reset the computer and still getting the P0401 code. What should I do next?

Try searching this forum for "P0401". There are a lot of solutions for this code. You might find the more common source is the DPFE or a vacuum leak.

What is DPFE and how would I check for a vacuum leak?

DPFE = Differential Pressure Feedback EGR, it is one of the sensors that controls the operation of the EGR valve.
There are several methods for checking for vacuum leaks. The preferred would be a smoke machine, but a professional machine is pricey and home-brew methods are not necessarily simple. Another method would be to use throttle body cleaner or carb cleaner and spray it carefully around vacuum hoses and gaskets, being very careful not to get it on plastics or paint.
Again, a keyword search of the forum would yield this information and more specifics.

My 97 came up with the same egr code, i had to replace the egr flow sensor, i got one at Advanced Auto Parts , after replacing the sensor, remove negative battery terminal, then the positive terminal, wait 15 minutes, put terminals back on and your check engine light should be off and the code will be cleared.

The EGR flow sensor is the same as the DPFE.
