Revive Power

I have an 86 gmc sierra classic 4 door long bed with a turbo 400 tranny. Edlebrock carb and intake. She has a few miles on her but still running good. But she doesnt seem to have the kick that she used to have. And I want to cheaply but effectively give her the power back. Any ideas on how to bring power back to this old chevy?

Very vague question, is the engine in good shape, why did it loose power, these are the 1st considerations before doing anything.

engine is in good shape. There is a new aluminum cooling system. Plugs and wires are good quality. It just seems that it has a hard time pulling a trailer up a hill now. Could it be gas? Does it need lead? I remember when it used to just fly right up to 80. Now it takes a little more time.

The only way to say the engine is in good shape isto do a leak down or compression test, camshafts from that era were known to fail also, these things need to be checked, aside from the normal tune up stuff, before any recommendation can be made. Partially blocked cat is another issue for loss of power.

All the cats and emission control system was taking off when my mother owned it. How do you do a compression test?
